Alcohol, Extract, Attenuation, (Relative) Bitterness Ratio, Calories

This tool estimates alcohol content, extract, attenuation and calories content of beer. Calculations are inspired by articles Brew by the Numbers: Add Up What’s in Your Beer, Michael L. Hall (Zymurgy, Summer 1995), Kde se rodí vzorce - ALKOHOL, Petr Novotný (PIVAŘ 1/2017) and by web Mad Alchemist.

  • Enter beer original and final gravity. Optionally enter beer volume and/or beer bitterness (used to calculate calories content and/or bitterness ratio).
  • Tool estimates alcohol content (by volume, by weight), extract (original, apparent, real), attenuation (apparent, real), bitterness ratio and calories content (contribution due to the residual sugar, alcohol and proteins) of beer.
